VENcE knows how create a pretty remarkable atmosphere with their music. It takes you on a journey, slaps you around and puts you back on the ground. It is as sweet as it is aggressive. The violin and cello lure into a dream while the drums, guitar and accordion create a steady beat where you can build your dreams upon. Every instrument serves the cause of a greater whole. The lyrics, written by the singer appear to be about you and your connection to everything around you. Most of the lyrics, just like the songs themselves are arranged in associative way. One thing leads to another but there appears to be no direct connection…..
VENcE brings you, amplified or complete acoustic a dynamic and intense show! It slides from lovely tickling small introspective songs to more outgoing up tempo gypsy, polka rock kind a songs. In several media VENcE is described as pop/ folk/ rock with a dark edge to it! Someone once put it this way: David Lynch Folk! and could be right!
Op 3 september 1979 werd het oude RKZ gekraakt. Om dit te vieren gaan we na het optreden van Vence (zie hierboven) nog even lekker loos met Cosmic Spring, Fusion/Electro/Trance uit Groningen

‘Mature’ is an euphimism – stinksisters anno 2009 are ripe & rotten. Formed in 1992 when leading lady Cati Prout attempted to create her own riot-grll band. She failed but Stinksisters were born. In their long & rich history a lot of colorfull figures from the Rotterdam underground scene came & went.

The band Lushus has existed in its current, powerful formation, since 2004. There are two charismatic female bass players and an energetic drummer, all of whom sing. Together they indulge and tease the listener with a mixture of jazz, Punk and nu-wave.

With their latest album “Plan Maestro”, SANTO BARRIO from Santiago de Chile
finally do have the master plan at hand to conquer the old world musically…
Since their first release in 1997 “Tumbao Revelde” SANTO BARRIO are making
themselves heard on either side of the Andes for 12 years now. From
Buenos Aires all the way to Mexico City, from von Santiago de Chile to Berlin
playing with bands like UN KUARTITO (ARG) and SKA’T (D). Their explosive
mix of Ska, Rock and Cumbia, with the almighty horn-section and the incredible
percussions lights ears and hearts on fire anywhere they go! Oh, yes you’ve
read correctly! SANTO BARRIO already made it over to Europe in 2001 with
their independently produced album “Ahora es Cuando”. That was D.I.Y.
all the way and they for example played at the prestigious “Festival de la
Cultura Latinoamericana” in Hamburg. By the way, that very album got them
the equivalent to the Grammy in Chile! KARAMELO SANTO do it in Argentina
and they do it in Chile on a regular basis: support the one and only MANU CHAO when he is on tour!
Success is hard work and they also have the certain something that opens
the hearts and ears of people all over. It’s not just the music but also their
politically and ecologically motivated lyrics – over here as well as in Chile!
Begonnen in 2006 als duo, beide leden afkomstig uit verschillende Amsterdamse bands, zoals the Bones, Los Looches (Bone) en Dexter, Franco Formica (Memme), bekend van de Diepte-scene. Na een vliegende start met een intensieve podium-agenda is het een jaar later tijd voor een uitbreiding: Potlood (ook in Hero’s and Zero’s, the Works)voegt zich bij het energieke duo om de nummers een diepere laag te geven, en om nog hogere podium-sprongen te maken. De reputatie van de band als zijnde een van de meest opwindende in de Rock ‘n roll-scene van Nederland wordt hierdoor nog meer bevestigd.
Hey, we are iLLBiLLY and HiTEC… our first EP “BadBoyBass” is out since June, featuring six songs between break beat, dubstep and jungle recorded with our lovely guests Marlene Johnson, Longfingah and Emanero. We just finished a tour of festivals around europe, support shows with Panteon Rococo from Mexico, and a lot of awesome club gigs. Thank everyone so much for supporting and attending!
Now, we are preparing further releases for this year. One is going to be a 12″ LP of “Nuff A Dem”, inc. two wondefull remixes. The other one will be a remix EP of known latin-ska songs blending our styles, which will be available for free download. So far confirmed are “Nunca” by Karamelo Santo, “Ritmo Del Barrio” by Abuela Coca and “El Camino” by No Te Va Gustar. Stay tuned for updates!
The ORKZ-bar is part of the ORKZ, a legalised squat in the south of Groningen. Located in the old kitchens of the former Roman-Catholic hospital, the bar is run by volunteers, and usually open from 22:00 till late (except mondays and wednesdays).
